There were fireworks that lit up the sky about 2 am ,not sure why but Lee and I didn’t even hear them. Some of the huge fireworks found later measured 2"x 7" !! Must have been because we were asleep in the wagon. We were very lucky that most of the horses are "bomb proof" .There was no damage ,but it was becoming clear that Meriden was not a very welcoming place !!

Tom K's mother & father came down today
& brought newspapers. Bob Meehan, ,his wife Flo & kids, from the Robin’s Nest Restaurant, left this afternoon after
cooking stuffed boneless breast of chicken for us. What a treat !!
Tommy & Barb Greene & Anne Holst came with the rest of the hay for the RI Contingent.

One week in, looking a bit shaggy,time for a shower We would all pile in the back of the "Camp Truck" !! That would be in the open bed of a pick-up ,some times 10-15 people .Riding in the open air ,we already started to feel cleaner !( Could not do that today,we would have had to get a shuttle bus.)
