Journal Entry : Sunday June 13,1976, Rest Day at Lyndhurst Estate, Tarrytown, NY
Lyndhurst is fantastic. The grounds are beautiful, overlooking the Tappen Zee Bridge which we will be using on Monday to cross over to New Jersy.
Plenty of room for us to freely ride our horses . It's good to be able to stretch their legs !
Traveling over the road is done at about 4mi /hr and the horses are mostly kept at a walk.
But , we were told not to get too close to the upper property line. We found out the "Moonies" lived next door !!
People who are visiting have to leave by 8pm on Saturday & 5 pm on Sunday. This is really great. We will have a closed camp at night and be able to sleep better.
We went & took showers at Mary Mount
College. (There were Marble showers !!) Later Lee and I had a tour of the mansion , rose garden & carriage house &
then Cathy & I cantered a bit with Breezy & Thunder around the
grounds.
We saw the Vermont crew testing their 4-up , getting ready for the "BRIDGE" !!

Later Lee took G out for a
while. Excitement is mounting for the
“Bridge”. Tom’s Aunt & Uncle came
out with his Mother & Dad today.
Cathy went home with the them after watching the Wagon Train Show.
Not sure how much sleep we will get tonight ! Excitement is rising for tomorrow. We are all both nervous and excited at the same time. We can see the bridge from Lyndhurst and are somewhat apprehensive about what will happen with all the horses on that very long expansive span. We were all asked to use four horses up if we could. We now only have a pair and a spare so we will only have a team of two.Less for us to worry about!
