Here I am riding "G" followed by the RI contingent ,RI Wagon driven by "Lee" Reynolds
On to Connecticut ...we decided to leave "G" ( Gamble's Got It } home as we left RI. We were camped at Beach Pond Horsemen's Area (now re-named LeGrand Reynolds Horsemen's Area) only a few feet from our farm !! As my sister Cathy would be going home after today's drive it was felt three horses would be good to travel with. KK , Thunder and Breezy would continue with us. We also asked Tom K if he would like to drive our truck and trailer along the route and stay with us for the duration of the trip. We had not realized the logistics of the needs and after two days it had become quite clear that we would be needing many more supplies than would fit in the wagon. It was also clear, that with only two horses pulling the wagon ,our cargo had to be lightened !! Reminding us of "Wagon Train Days" , now we know why so many things just got left behind along the western trails !!

Journal Entry Wednesday, June 2, (26 miles planned to Lebanon)
On to Lebanon Green, (ended day at “Sprague Rod & Gun Club” ) ,24mi
It rained all night and was still raining as we crossed over the Beach Pond causeway into Connecticut !!
At Beach Pond,Exeter,RI/Voluntown, Ct we meet up with the Connecticut Wagon.
We were supposed to be traveling 26 mi to Lebanon,Ct but Ct people miscalculated. I see we will be saying goodbye to organization for a while ("Little Rhody" had it in the bag). Also we are saying goodbye to small back roads. It will be secondary routes all the way across Conn. (24 miles in,later today, with about 12 to go it was clear that we would not make it to Lebanon tonight !!) About 10 mi in ,near Jewett City, a very nice lady allowed us to use her hose ,so we could fill our buckets to water the horses. The sun had come out and it was now getting very hot.
About 4 PM Roger said that we had gone our limit. Rumors spread that he had been arrested but I’m not sure (for stopping traffic) We have no Police with us.

The nearby Sprague Rod and Gun Club opened it’s doors and field to us and were
great hosts.
