We are about to enter into more than two weeks traveling around touring historical sites in New Jersey. I think the people who were planing our New Jersey route had good intentions, but the reality of the planned route was that it was not the best plan. The days were too long, the distances were too far and the weather was too hot resulting in many trying days.
Here is the plan that was !!

Left the Stud Farm late (9 am) because they had to re-route us around a ghetto &
railroad yard which is where we were to have lunch.
We had lunch in a ball field and there we
hooked up G and she did very well. Ranny
and I rode on the side of the team and we had no problems at all.
At Kingsland Park on Third River, we had to go over a small wooden bridge and our horses went right over (all the
small horses did).

Tonight Hoffman La Roche Pharmaceuticals company opened their doors for us to have showers.Lee and I usually took turns every other day going for showers when we could. Going for a shower usually meant riding in the open camp truck to the shower site. This was more like an excursion. The truck usually offered nightly shuttles to showers, laundromats, and assorted stores.
Then the rain came. At first we didn't realize that we were on an island in Kingsland Lake on Third River and the night watch
thought we might have to evacuate if the river rose much more. The island has been known to be totally covered with water. Unknown to us there was a "water level watch" all night. The level stayed just below evacuation stage !
