"Beautiful Easy Day" We earned it !!

Journal Entry Friday June 11,1976...
16 miles
Left late this morn (8:50)
because the Connecticut people were waiting for a replacement horse and then Lyle would not hurry to hook
up. After that we had 1 ½ hour lunch break
with the teams standing in the hot sun so NY could switch teams then we drove on to
Croton-On-Hudson.
Had to cross two bridges today.
One was a very long winding railroad bridge which we will have to go across again tomorrow. It was the only way in to Croton Point Park.

At Croton we were greeted with open arms and
too much water—they even opened the hydrants !!
View from our wagon at Croton Point Park, Tom K coming across with buckets of water for the horses. Note the rope behind our horses... we found it was safer to set up a roped area every night to keep people a good distance from horses. Giving us a little more freedom.
Croton Point Park was a beautiful place to spend the night.
